RESIDENTIAL SIDING INSULATION

 Dow High Performance Underlayment (HPU) and High Performance Underlayment-LF (HPU-LF) extruded polystyrene insulation wraps your home like a blanket. If you don't need the insulation value of thicker insulation, HPU and HPU-LF insulation is for you. Dow HPU and HPU-LF insulation are specially formulated 1/4" and 3/8" thick extruded polystyrene boards sealed between select plastic facings and produced in continuous 50' long x 4' wide fan-fold sections. The inherent flexibility of HPU and HPU-LF insulation allows corner-wraps without breakage or reinforcement, providing sealing effectiveness and a smooth level surface for new siding.

Before covering an old wall with insulation and new siding, be sure the wall is sound. Do not install siding over walls that have deteriorated from moisture, insects etc.

 Styrofoam SIS™ Brand Structural Insulated Sheathing combines structural lateral bracing and transverse load, insulation and water-resistive barrier properties. It is designed for use as braced wall panels attached next to other rigid insulated sheathing. It can also serve as continuous structural insulated sheathing over the entire structural insulated wall line.

Styrofoam SIS™ Brand Structural Insulated Sheathing is the first structural insulated sheathing to achieve significant R-values (R-3.0 at 0.5"; R-5.5 at 1") and eliminates the need for wood structural panels and house-wrap, wood let-in bracing or metal T-bracing. In addition, this sheathing helps lower the installed cost because it allows the builder to install structural support, insulation and a water-resistive barrier (sheathing joints taped with 2-7/8" WEATHERMATE™ Construction Tape (required to qualify) with less trips around the house.

Building Code Compliance

Foam complies with ASTM C1289-07. Meets IBC/IRC requirements for foam plastic insulation. See ICC-ES AC269.

Styrofoam SIS™ Brand Structural Insulated Sheathing is the first structural insulated sheathing to achieve significant R-values, while meeting the acceptance criteria for the racking shear evaluation per ICC-ES AC269. Styrofoam SIS™ Brand Structural Insulated Sheathing can also be used and left exposed in gables and attics.
